Swaziland Trip - June 2008

We will be traveling to Mgambeni, Swaziland to help the local church build a poultry farm, a business whose profits will be used to support families who are caring for the children orphaned by AIDS in the Mgambeni area.  We will leave on Friday, June 13th and arrive in Swaziland on June 15th.  We will stay for a week, working in Mgambeni for five days, leaving on Saturday, June 21st.  The details regarding the timing of the trip are below.  If you would like to go on this trip, you will need to get started by downloading and completing the Swaziland Mission Trip Application and sending that, along with your deposit, back to SeventyTwo for approval. 

Friday, Saturday - June 13 - 14

  • South African Airlines 7481:  St. Louis (STL) to Washington D.C. (IAD) - June 13, 12:50pm - 3:35pm (1 hr 45min)
  • South African Airlines 208:  Washington D.C. to Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) - June 13, 5:40pm - June 14, 3:35pm (15 hr 55min)
  • South African Airlines 8008:  Johannesburg to Manzini, Swaziland (MTS) - June 14, 5:05pm - 6:10pm (1 hr 5 min)
  • We'll meet with our guides in Manzini and travel to the group home where we will stay.
Sunday - June 15
  • We'll travel out to Mgambeni in the morning where we will worship with the church and spend the day with the children.
Monday - Friday, June 16 - 20
  • We'll work in the village at Mgambeni setting up the poultry farm. 
  • We'll also spend time with the children and get to know the people in the church.
  • One other possibility is to go to a game park where we would be able to see African animals.  This will take an entire day, so we'll need to discuss this as a team to decide if we would like to include this as part of our trip.  We are considering going on this side trip on Wednesday, 6/17.
  • Each night, we'll stay in the group home and take lunches to the village.
