What is SeventyTwo?
SeventyTwo is non-profit organization dedicated to helping orphaned children around the world. We help orphans by acting as a bridge, connecting American individuals, churches, businesses, and other organizations to in-country caretakers who provide practical assistance for these children. SeventyTwo works with partner organizations to develop strategic plans to engage projects to help the children, providing resources and sending people to help implement the plan.
How can I be involved?
SeventyTwo is currently working with orphaned children in China and Swaziland. We would like you to consider working with us to help them, to alter the negative course of their lives, giving them a new hope and a future.
SeventyTwo China
China is undergoing rapid changes to become a more prosperous country, but in their rush to the future, many people in the rural areas are being left behind. This is especially true in the countryside that surrounds the metro area of Zhengzhou, China. In this area, there are many children who live on the streets or in caves dug into the side of a hill. Many of these areas are remote and difficult to reach, but the dedication of the caretakers takes them into these locations to reach out and bring the children into a home where the children are cared for, given a new identity and positive direction, and educated so they can have an opportunity for a future.
SeventyTwo Swaziland
The AIDS epidemic in Africa has hit the small country of Swaziland disproportionately hard, leaving behind a trail of orphaned children as mothers and fathers die from the disease. In some villages, as many as 60% of the children have been orphaned as a result. Instead of allowing these children to be caught in a downward spiral and selling their bodies to survive, SeventyTwo is partnering with the local churches to help them as they bring the children into their families to raise these children. By providing loans to fund small micro-businesses and sending teams to help the business get started, SeventyTwo assists the churches in earning the money needed to care for the children.
How can I get started?
Additional information about these programs can be found in the profile documents provided with this introduction. We would also like to meet with you to discuss how you can become involved in the work to help the children. More than just providing money, SeventyTwo sends partners to become involved as an integral part of the solution. We would invite you to help us by giving to SeventyTwo projects, but we would also like you to consider going with us to where the children live, to help the orphans. The project profiles provide details about the opportunities for direct involvement with the children.
We are available for speaking engagements and consultations about how your organization can be involved in working with orphans in China, Swaziland, and in other parts of the world. Please contact Ryan Hale at (636) 566-8343 or ryan.hale@seventytwo.org for additional information.
